  • FAQ's | Sapphire Dental

Frequently asked questions Why do my gums bleed? Gum disease is caused by a build-up of plaque on the teeth. If you do not remove plaque from your teeth by brushing and cleaning in between them regularly, it builds up and irritates your gums. Can I still claim on my dental insurance if I am on your membership plan? Joining our membership plan does not effect most insurances, many of our patients receive a statement on request after treatment has been carried out which allows them to forward it on to their insurance provider. (please check with your insurer) What is the best membership plan? Both of our membership plans are very beneficial but every patient is different, your dentist will be able to recommend the plan to suit your dental needs Can I finance my treatment? Finance is available once your treatment plan has been created by your dentist. Its quick and easy please find the link under Fees on our home page What is the best toothbrush to use? If you are unsure of what toothbrush to use, please check with your dental professional. Every patient is different and has personal preference on their toothbrushes. Your dentist will recommend the best one for you individually Can I see another dentist if my dentist has limited availabilty? It is possible to be seen by another one of our dentists if they have limited availability, we try to keep you with your same dentist for treatment as mostly your dentist creates your treatment plan. On some occasions other dentists may carry out treatment. What age should I take my child to the dentist? There is no age restriction on taking your child to the dentist. Mostly, when a child cuts their first tooth around 6 months old they take their first trip to the dentist

  • Root Canal Treatment | Sapphire Dental

Root Canal Treatments Book a Consultation Root canal treatment (endodontics) is used to treat infection at the centre of a tooth, often saving a tooth that might otherwise need to be removed. Teeth are living parts of the body. They comprise of a hard outer covering of enamel, a softer material under this called dentine and a nerve and blood supply to the tooth. This nerve can become inflamed resulting in sensitivity, toothache and/or a dental abscess. Root canal treatment is required when the damage to the nerve is irreversible. It is necessary to clean out the space where the nerve lies and to seal that space to prevent further infection or inflammation. Commonly the nerve is damaged due to trauma (a blow), tooth decay, gum disease, tooth wear or abrasion/erosion. How we perform root canal treatment Before having root canal treatment, you’ll usually be given a local anaesthetic to make the procedure more comfortable. Root canal treatment can take a number of visits depending on how complex the shape of the nerve canal system is or how soon the infection settles. Treatment is usually carried out under a dental rubber dam to protect the tooth from bacterial recolonisation from the saliva. There are several techniques used to clean and shape root canals, which involve using fine metal instruments called files. After the bacteria have been removed, the root canal is filled and the tooth sealed with a filling or crown; your dentist will determine the best option for your tooth. Back to Treatments

  • Invisalign Straightening | Sapphire Dental

Invisalign Straightening Book a Consultation Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment using a series of clear aligners to move teeth into position. Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, clear, plastic aligners that cover your teeth and move them gently into position. They are clear and less noticeable than traditional braces, and can be removed for cleaning your teeth, eating and drinking. Invisalign 3D scanning technology is used to assess and plan your clear aligner treatment. The unique ClinCheck software allows you to see how the series of aligners will move your teeth into their projected position, so you can see how your teeth will look before the start of treatment. Once finalised, the scans are sent to the laboratory to make your clear aligners. You will return to collect your aligners and be given instructions on use. You wear each set of aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day for 1-2 weeks, until they become ‘passive’, before moving on to the next aligner in the series. Regular reviews and sometimes attachments are needed to ensure the appropriate placement of controlled movement on the teeth. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign not only controls the amount of movement per aligner, but also the timing of the movement. This results in an efficient force delivery system that moves teeth into the desired prescribed position. Typically, Invisalign treatment can take between 6 and 18 months, with the fee ranging from £3500–£4500 depending on complexity. This fee can be spread over 12 months and includes retainers to hold your teeth into position and teeth whitening at the end of treatment. Kavita Malkan offers Invisalign straightening at Sapphire Dental; book a free consultation to find out your options. We love to hear our patients comments about their positive experiences with us. We see a range of patients, some who struggle with anxiety, some referred from other dental practices, and ofcourse our regular patients want to maintain their oral health. MRS A.T March 2024 I have been with Sapphire Dental since it opened and have always been happy being treated by Dr Manoj Tank who has a gentle manner and is professional and thorough. All staff I have dealt with are also friendly, helpful and considerate. I am very happy to recommend. My next appointment is booked already MISS A.S HIGHLY RECOMMEND. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I have finally found a dentist I will be returning to. I couldn’t have been happier with the service given. All of the doctors are amazing. The reception staff are amazing. I could not fault anything and will definitely be back to complete my treatments. I couldn’t recommend Sapphire Dental more and would advise anyone who is looking for a new dentist to come here. MR J.D Very pleased with the service, would like to say a big thank you to all the staff and dentists who were very calm and supportive, to my daughter who had an accident with her braces MS C.S Highly recommend. The dentists are attentive and caring. The hygienist was amazing, talked throughout explaining what she was doing and gave me some great tips. MR T.H I am a new patient to Sapphire Dental and recently had to have a filling here. I have never been so well informed and looked after at a Dental surgery in my life, with the wonderful & professional care I was given by Pratima and Nisha. Everyone is very friendly and it helped me relax alot.On another, smaller note, the location could not be much easier to locate, what with being in the Sainsburys store. Highly recommended MR J.O'C After years of being fearful of dentists, I had to get a severe toothache dealt with. Being a regular shopper in the store where the practice is located, I thought I’d see if they could have a look for me. From the moment I arrived, I was put at ease to the point where many years later, I’m still visiting for my regular check ups! At the end of 2022, I decided that I’d had enough of the crash site that is my mouth and enquired about Invisalign. After getting a graphic that showed how my mouth would be, I decided that it was worth the investment - even if I was a little sceptical about how my teeth would actually look. I’m now a matter of weeks away from the end of the plan and my mouth is so much better than I could ever imagine. Dr Malkan has gone above and beyond ensuring that my teeth look how they should!!The rest of the team in the practice always have a smile on their faces as well as a warm welcome whenever I find myself attending. Can’t recommend the team enough and I’m forever thankful for the work that they have done with my mouth. MR A.H '' Dr Tank has been my dentist since I moved into the area 7 years ago. I am 88 years old and I have had quite a few dentists, but not one has been better than Dr Tank. At my age my teeth are not in a very good condition, but he has kept them going, and carried out some rebuilding of my teeth that I would not have thought possible. Not only does Dr Tank carry out dentistry with utmost care, he also explains things with great clarity. I can thoroughly recommend Dr Tank. I was originally attracted to the surgery because the premises and equipment were new and impressive. Also being on the ground floor with excellent free parking was a real bonus. '' MR D.C '' For your records my treatment at the hands of Dr Nisha Sanghrajka has been exemplary throughout and she is a great asset to the clinic in my opinion. '' MRS I.F-C Staff are welcoming, informative & extremely helpful. 🙂 Only had check up so far and dentist was relaxing, reassuring & thorough. My treatment is planned out and I would thoroughly recommend Sapphire Dental. MR J.C Helpful and caring staff have helped me fix my teeth better than expected. Will be recommending to friends and family. '' MR P.A '' I want to put on record how happy I was and am regarding the dental treatment you provided me, which included operations and stitching in my gums. You always treated me with the utmost respect and courtesy. You are very kind, caring and highly likeable doctor. You always put me at ease before and during the procedures. I had no problems whatsoever about the procedures you carried out and everything always went satisfactorily. You are without doubt a competent dental surgeon and a calm and wonderful person. You are clearly an invaluable asset to your profession and the patients that you treat and will treat. I was fortunate to have met you and receive the treatment at your hands. '' MS A.F - November 2022 I cannot praise Sapphire Dental enough! The support and care I received excelled expectations! In particular, Dr Nisha and Pratima, for the amazing support they gave me. I am an extremely nervous person when it comes to the dentist. They were so kind and gentle, and may I say, tolerant with me! Dr Nisha was so informative and explained everything so clearly, always checking if I was ok and Pratima held my hand when I felt so anxious. You ladies are incredible, and I will recommend you to everyone! Thank you Heart Leave us A Review Follow us on Social Media Lovely, kind and understanding receptionists. Professional, knowledgeable and kind Dentist, has answered all my questions, told me what options I had and explained everything fully. Very happy. 5/5 would recommend. MR G.G

  • Dental Hygienist | Sapphire Dental

Dental Hygienist O ur dental hygiene team will clean and polish your teeth and e nsure a healthy smile Maintaining regular visits to our dental hygiene team will keep your teeth clean and mouth healthy. They will professionally clean your teeth and remove plaque and tartar, both of which encourage dental decay and gum disease. They will also advise on how you can improve your oral care at home, showing brushing techniques and cleaning aids such as small interdental brushes. If you have gum (periodontal) disease, our Specialist in periodontics, Manoj Tank, will work with our dental hygiene team to professionally clean and help maintain the health of your gums. We also offer air polishing as an additional treatment (fees apply), where our dental hygienist will use a small nozzle to deliver a jet of compressed air, water and fine cleaning powders to gently and thoroughly clean your teeth. This is a non-invasive treatment that is particularly effective at removing even the worst stains, such as those caused by coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco. As air polishing is less noisy and very gentle, it is especially suited for treating children, and those with sensitive gums and teeth. We also offer Direct Access hygiene's for non - registered patients who wish to simply have a hygiene appointment without having a check up first with one of our dentists.
