Root canal treatment is a vital treatment option designed to save a tooth which has deep decay and infection. Our expert, Dr Jassar El Jabouri, is a dentist with a special interest in root canal treatment, and has already saved numerous teeth for our grateful patients! Root Canal Treatments Book a Consultation Root canal treatment (endodontics) is used to treat infection at the centre of a tooth, often saving a tooth that might otherwise need to be removed. Teeth are living parts of the body. They comprise of a hard outer covering of enamel, a softer material under this called dentine and a nerve and blood supply to the tooth. This nerve can become inflamed resulting in sensitivity, toothache and/or a dental abscess. Root canal treatment is required when the damage to the nerve is irreversible. It is necessary to clean out the space where the nerve lies and to seal that space to prevent further infection or inflammation. Commonly the nerve is damaged due to trauma (a blow), tooth decay, gum disease, tooth wear or abrasion/erosion. How we perform root canal treatment Before having root canal treatment, you’ll usually be given a local anaesthetic to make the procedure more comfortable. Root canal treatment can take a number of visits depending on how complex the shape of the nerve canal system is or how soon the infection settles. Treatment is usually carried out under a dental rubber dam to protect the tooth from bacterial recolonisation from the saliva. There are several techniques used to clean and shape root canals, which involve using fine metal instruments called files. After the bacteria have been removed, the root canal is filled and the tooth sealed with a filling or crown; your dentist will determine the best option for your tooth. Back to Treatments

They will professionally clean your teeth and remove plaque and tartar, both of which encourage dental decay and gum disease. They will also advise on how you can improve your oral care at home, showing brushing techniques and cleaning aids such as small interdental brushes. If you have gum (periodontal) disease, our Specialist in periodontics, Manoj Tank, will work with our dental hygiene team to professionally clean and help maintain the health of your gums. We also offer air polishing as an additional treatment (fees apply), where our dental hygienist will use a small nozzle to deliver a jet of compressed air, water and fine cleaning powders to gently and thoroughly clean your teeth. This is a non-invasive treatment that is particularly effective at removing even the worst stains, such as those caused by coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco. As air polishing is less noisy and very gentle, it is especially suited for treating children, and those with sensitive gums and teeth. Facial Aesthetics Book a Consultation Facial aesthetics are non-surgical treatments to soften fine lines and define features Nisha Sanghrajka offers wrinkle reduction and lip filler treatments at Sapphire Dental. Wrinkle reduction Nisha uses Azzalure, a muscle relaxant derived from Botulinum toxin type A, to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. It is commonly used to smooth out forehead lines, crow’s feet and frown lines. Azzalure is administered using a very fine needle to target fine lines and wrinkles and ensure a more youthful appearance. It is a quick procedure, making it highly convenient to fit in around your schedule without taking any time off to recover. You may notice a little redness or swelling following the procedure, but this is normal and should disappe ar within a few hours. Results are very natural-looking and can last around 3–5 months; regular top-up treatments ensure lasting results. Lip fillers Nisha uses Teoxane lip fillers to provide a hydrated, more defined appearance of the lips. Teoxane is an injectable hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler designed to improve upper and lower lip volume as well as the philtrum (the lines between the nose and the upper lip). Teoxane is injected into the dermis to immediately alleviate signs of ageing. Its high concentration of hyaluronic acid gives volume to the face and lips. For your total comfort, this treatment is carried out under local anae sth etic. Some redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness may occur at the injection site, but this is usually transient.
